American Book Haul || كتب شريتها من أمريكا

السلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته

This is part 1 of my America haul, this is long delayed. But I was debating whether I should do it or not,I decided to go through with it as you may tell from the title. I enjoy watching hauls and reading haul blogposts. So its only fair to make one myself, no?

Disclaimer: No, I don't have a money tree growing in my backyard, nor do I have a money printing machine in my basement. I just saved my money for this trip, thankfully it pulled off. And I am also not trying to brag or gloat, just wanted to share what I got.

Because the books are English, this post will be written in English.

Ok, with everything out of the way, lets get to it.
The first books I bought while I was there were manga, Barnes and Noble had a promotion where if you get 2 mangas you get the 3rd free, and I needed to take advantage of that being the manga freak I am!
So I got the Complete Collection Vol.1 + Vol.2 of Orange, and All You Need is Kill (which ended up being the free one).

Plus I snagged this 2016 Manga Sampler from a table in that section of the bookstore, it is free as well and the mangas in it are lovely.

So excited to finally own physical copies of mangas.
I linked the mangas' goodreads, and will be linking all the books' goodreads on them.

The second thing I got while I was there (on a different trip) was Everland by Wendy Spinale. Just hearing its a retelling of Peter pan, one of my favourite fairy tales, instantly gravitated me towards this book. How about a steampunk retelling of Peter Pan? Curious right?! Well this is it, and I didn't think twice before buying it. But I don't hear much about it in the book community. I also realised this book has deckled edges when I was taking the blogpost pictures, I never had a book that had this feature.

I also got two of Victoria Schwab's books! I've been dying to read her works for so long, and I finally got the chance to get two. Vicious, which is her most successful book if I'm not mistaken. And This Savage Song, which is her most recent and is part one of a beloved duology (at least this book is well-loved, a #1 NYT bestseller!)
Can't wait to read them, and can't wait for Our Dark Duet (which is part two of the duology, since I know I'll love book one and Victoria Schwab's writing)

Another thing I got from Barnes and Noble is Illuminae by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff. I mainly got it for its unique layout of the story, how its told in messages, files, and such. Even though its a thick book I think it'll be a fast read because of how its written.

Michelle Phan's book, Make Up, was another book I got there. I love Michelle Phan and I think she is an interesting person with great knowledge in beauty, fashion, art, etc. So having her write a book on subjects she knows so well is one worth the read for me.

The final thing I got from Barnes and Noble, which I preordered in anticipation of the release is..
(I'm sure you can guess)

Everybody has this book, while me going to get it wasn't that exciting nor was there that long of a line. I was over the moon clutching it in my hands and getting past the aftermath of the midnight release party.
I am still reading the series (I know how late of me being a potterhead for my whole life and only reading it now) and I'm about to finish book 4. I can't wait to get to this.
I forgot to mention, on the topic of Harry Potter, I got a chocolate frog from B&N and it was fun. I got Pomona Sprout.

Actually, I did get two more things but they aren't considered books. I got Piccadilly's 500 Drawing Prompt Journal , and I got 642 Places to Draw for 2$ (best deal I've ever gotten on a book).

I'll move on now to my Target purchases, which is basically the best place to get books since they're always 20%.

First book I got from there was Every Last Word by Tamara Ireland Stone.

I've heard nothing but good things about this one, and it was especially praised for how it handled the mental illness in this book. The main character has Purely Obsessional OCD, which most of us can relate to even if we don't have said illness.

The second book I got was Queen of Hearts by Colleen Oakes.

I wouldn't have gotten this without the constant praise for it by Hayaisreading, a lovely bookstagrammer. I know Marissa Meyer will be releasing a book with a similar concept, and she is known to be one of the queens of retellings, I decided to get this one since I liked its storyline more.

I got The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up by Marie Kondo too. Since this book is extremely well-loved with an intriguing title I decided to get it. Lots of people have been affected by the author's words to organise and clean, I thought it might work for a natural born mess like me.

Finally, I got the Harry Potter Colouring Kit (its really hilarious finding this on a book reading website, I know its book related but its not a book to mark it as "read" or something). I already had the Colouring book so I decided to complete the set with the kit. Its so beautiful! The cards' quality is fantastic and the prints are so amazing.
although I didn't like the coloured pencils included, its still a wonderful activity set for a good price.

I got this book from the cinema, its an artbook the movie theatre I frequently went to was giving out along with posters and such. I was ecstatic to receive it since I have a small collection of artbooks (you can call me a "collector" of them). I love flipping through their pages admiring their beauty and getting inspired by it all. This one's a James Bond artbook called Bond By Design (as you can tell).

I did get a book recently, not from America but I went to Virgin Megastore a couple of days ago and I bought this book. Since I didn't know where to showcase it I might as well do it here. Its The Shadow of The Wind by Carlos Luis Zafón. It reminded me so much of The Alchemist for some reason and I thought the story was interesting so I got it. I need something to fill the void The Alchemist left until my copy is returned to me so I can reread it 50 times.

That's pretty much it, I am so thankful for this opportunity and I'm so excited to read all this. I have a makeup portion of this haul which is coming very soon. I hope you enjoyed reading <3
See you soon.
